IBIZA NARCOS

Fusing documentary and drama, the series charts the rise and fall of some of the opportunistic smugglers and dealers who brought LSD, ecstasy, and cocaine to Ibiza during the Eighties, Nineties and Noughties, and the police attempts to stem the tide of narcotics flowing in with the clubbers. And it tells the stories of those for whom the non-stop party got out of hand.

ibiza Narcos tells the story of how a tiny, sleepy Mediterranean Island was transformed into one the world’s most vibrant party capitals, fuelled by a dangerous and lucrative drugs trade which drew as many criminals to its shores as it did party animals.

Our challenge as an art department was to take a microbudget and skeleton crew and interpret 4 decades of Island stories, recreating them in practical locations in and around london. Each era had its own highly visual energy, each character fully established through THE archive. Not wanting to purely copy their history, we sought to elevate the narrative and expand the settings into their own unique and complex existence

Not a single prop or piece of scenery was wasted, we were able to reuse the same flats and construction materials again and again to save money and resources, donating them to another FIlm afterwards, making this an Albert-endorsed, sustainable production
